Data reveals Australia’s top 10 taxpayers

The Australian Taxation Office’s latest corporate tax transparency report shows that Rio Tinto had the biggest company tax bill in 2018-19. The resources giant paid $4.2bn in taxes during the financial year, ahead of BHP and the Commonwealth Bank. The report also reveals that the combined tax take from the nation’s 2,350 biggest corporate taxpayers was $56.1bn, compared with $52.3bn in 2017-18. News Corp, Santos, Woodside Petroleum and Chevron are among 760 companies that did not pay any corporate income tax in 2018-19..
